Sometimes kids are so smart.
Between bites of brownie, Seven Year Old states, "And I thought, 'Why would I keep wanting to be like her when often she makes me so mad?'
You see, she is facing what we all face.. Wanting to be like our best friends because somehow we are not enough just as we are. We think somehow "they" have the answers and "they've" figured out how to really be great. We don't measure up just being plain old ourselves.
Problem is. Sometimes our best friend can become an arch enemy. Because even our best friends are not perfect, and they aren't so great at all. They have issues too.
Maybe the bigger need is to realize that God loves us for who WE are, and not so much how well we become like the friend who "has it all together".
"For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord." Romans 8:38-39 (NIV)
Walk in confidence today. The God of the universe loves you. That is enough.
In other news. Seven Year Old is a great abstract artist.
